A new star is born ??
17 year old boy Yashasvi Jaiswal alone fought tooth and nail through poverty to play cricket and has now suddenly became a big household name in Indian cricket circles with his latest exploits in Vijay Hazare 50 over competition by scoring a blazing 203 off 154 balls with 17 fours and 12 sixes to set the stage on fire. The left hander with fluent strokes on both sides of the wicket put the Jharkhand bowlers to the sword as Mumbai , banking on the teenager’s 200 won a high scoring match. This is the first time that a teenager has scored a double hundred in List A cricket. His wide array of strokes ,had the Jharkhand bowlers running for cover as they were put to the sword by the teenager.
It has been an amazing story with Yashasvi, originating from Uttar Pradesh, went to Mumbai and stayed there away from his family in a small tent at the huge Azad Hind ground in Mumbai and earned by selling paanipuri during Ramleela. He further tried to earn few money by being scorer and ball boy in cricket matches at the huge Azad Maidan . He used to go through tremendous hardship sleeping in the tent in warm Mumbai weather and totally away from his parents which made him depressed several times. Finally he was spotted by Jwala Singh ,a former cricketer turned coach around 2013, who was impressed with his game and made him stay with him . This turned his fortunes as he started to create waves on cricket field. After an average under 19 tour of Srilanka ,he was at his best in under 19 Asia cup winning the player of the tournament award. He has already made his Ranji trophy debut and is currently in scintillating form in Vijay Hazare trophy, having scored already 3 hundreds in 5 innings. In his latest double hundred knock ,he had to counter quality bowlers like Varun Aaron, considered once as the fastest bowler in Indian circuit not long ago and Shahbaz Nadeem ,a very successful leggie.
Yashasvi has truly arrived and India is hopefully well on the way to get a special match winning prodigy.
