Big wins for Kalabagan, Sk. Rasel Sports Academy & Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity in DPL

On the sixteenth day of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL), Kalabagan Krira Chakra, Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy and Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity registered convincing wins over Gulshan Youth Club, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan and Mohammedan Sporting Club respectively.

Here is the sixteenth-day round-up:

Match 1: Kalabagan Krira Chakra vs Gulshan Youth Club

Kalabagan Krira Chakra won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision became fruitful as the opener of Gulshan Youth Club, Nasima Khatun fell for mere 8. Later, a 43-run partnership came from Priyanka Malik and Tomalika. However, the bowlers bounced back really well and didn’t let the batters stay a long time on the crease. Khadija Akter Chayna and Rokaiya Ahmed Ria bagged 3 wickets each and restricted their opponent within 151 on board.

Chasing the total, openers of Kalabagan Krira Chakra, Pinky Akter and Afia Asima Ira got off to a flying start. They both added 47 runs before Akter’s dismissal for 27. Later, Sabekunnahar Chaity steadied the ship with Ira, adding 36 runs. Ira scored 24 while Chaity scored an unbeaten 52 off 92. Kamrun Nahar Rekha scored a 40-ball 24 and both of them took the team to the finish line within 38 vers. Sabekunnahar Chaity was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for her unbeaten half-century.

Match 2: Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan vs Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan won the toss and elected to bat first. Both their openers Farzana Akter Lisa and Murshida Khatun Happy departed for a single-digit score. However, Sovana Mostary and Sumaiya Akter built a partnership by adding 88 runs. Sanzida Akter Maghla scored 31* off 42 while Disha Biswas scored a 28-ball 26 and put up a decent total of 195 on board after 50 overs.

While chasing, Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy lost their opener Iti Mondal for a five-ball duck. However, another opener Saee Purandare scored 81 before her dismissal by a direct throw. Shaila Sharmeen scored an unbeaten 87 while Rumana Ahmed scored a 19-ball 17 and handed over a convincing win to their team with 4.2 overs to spare. Shaila Sharmeen was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for her unbeaten knock.

Match 3: Mohammedan Sporting Club vs Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity

Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity won the toss and elected to field first. Asked to bat, openers Jinnat Asiya Aurthy and Sharmin Akter Supta fell for 11 and 6 respectively. However, Disha Kasai and Sharmin Akter added 56 runs before Disha fell for 48. Later, Sharmin Akter and Salma Khatun added 51 runs. Along with them, a quickfire 8-ball 15* came from Nupur Kohale which lifted them to 197 after 50 overs. Fahima Khatun bagged 4 wickets for Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity.

While chasing the score, openers Shathi Rani and Rubaiya Hayat Jilik added 23 runs before the former departed for 14. Jilik scored 45 while Nigar Sultana Joty scored a stable 70-ball 37. However, Sultana Khatun’s 16 off 19 and Fahima Khatun’s 19-ball 14 in the lower order helped them to get past the line with 1.3 overs to spare. Fahim Khatun was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for her all-round performance.
