On the eighth day of Dhaka Women’s Premier Division Cricket League, Keraniganj Cricket Academy and Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy won against Gulshan Youth Club and BD Ansar & VDA Cricket Team respectively.

Match 1: Gulshan Youth Club vs Keraniganj Cricket Academy
Keraniganj Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Nipa Akter and Eka Mallick got off to a flying start. Both added 51 runs before Akhter fell for 35. Later, Mallick and Asfia Alam Lamia added another 63 runs. Eka Mallick scored 50 off 76 before her dismissal while Asfia Alam Lamia scored an unbeaten 52 off 95.
Later, a 19-ball 20 from Sumaiya Irin Ivy and 14 off 10 from Suraiya Ajmim helped them to put up 203 on board. Neha and Tomalika bagged 2 wickets each for Gulshan Youth Club.
Chasing the total, Gulshan Youth Club lost their opener Tomalika for mere 1. However, Priyanka Malik and Nasima Akter added 62 runs. Akter took 69 balls to score just 10 runs. Malik’s quickfire knock came to an end in the 27th over; where she scored 75 off 70 with 14 boundaries. But her effort was not enough to take her team to the finish line. Eventually, they bundled out within 142 on board. Asfia Alam Lamia was awarded the ‘Player of the match’ for the unbeaten half-century.
Match 2: BD Ansar & VDA Cricket Team vs Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy
Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy won the toss and elected to bat first. Though they lost their opener Mishu Khan for a 4-ball duck, another opener Saee Purandare scored 36 off 51 before her dismissal and added 68 runs with Shaila Sharmeen. Sharmeen scored 40 off 80 before her dismissal.
However, Rumana Ahmed added 89 runs with Rumana Ahmed and Sultana Yasmin Baishakhi. Ahmed scored a 73-ball 59 while Baishakhi scored 41 off 72. Their stable knocks guided their side to put up 207 runs on board after 50 overs. Panna Ghosh bagged a four-fer while Morsheda Akter Suma and Shahnaj Parveen took 1 each.
Chasing the total, BD Ansar & VDA Cricket Team required a steady start which their openers Lily Rani Biswas and Shahnaj Parveen failed to provide. Later, Khadija Tul Kubra dismissed Aysha and Masuma Akter Shapla in quick succession. Panna Ghosh later tried to steady the ship, scoring 45 off 87 but lack of support from other batters they failed to win the game and lost to Sk. Rasel Sports Development Academy by 82 runs. Rumana Ahmed was awarded the ‘Player of the match’ for her all-round performance.
