As the whole world strives to fight the Corona virus menace, many Indian cricketers contributed wholeheartedly towards fighting this disease by contributing FUNDS to the Central and respective State Governments .

The BCCI led the way by donating 52 lakhs to PM fund . Sachin Tendulkar donated 50 lacs (25 lacs each to Central and State Governments). Sourav Ganguly has offered the West Bengal State Government , the indoor premises of Eden Gardens to treat as a quarantine centre for corona positive cases. The Pathan brothers ( Irfan and Yousuf) arranged for 4000 plus masks for the local authorities for protection against the virus.

Amongst current cricketers , Rohit Sharma contributed 85 lacs ( between central, state government,  stray dogs welfare organisation) . The Indian captain Virat Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma contributed jointly to Central and State government without disclosing the amount ( rumoured as 3 crores in media circles ) . Shikhar Dhawan contributed undisclosed amount , Rahane contributed 10 lacs and Kedar Jadhav did contributions as well as blood donation.

Yuvraj Sigh has helped his friend and Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi by contributing towards his organisation which is fighting the Corona outbreak in Pakistan.

Surely there had been more cricketers involved in contributions to fight this decease but many chooses not to highlight this in media.

One major highlight in this exercise was the contribution of Rs 1 lac by 16 year old woman cricketer Richa Ghosh of Bengal . It may be recalled that Richa played the recent womens World cup  T20 final as a concussed substitute replacing Tania Bhatia and came out and scored a quick 18 runs in a losing cause . Hence this was a great gesture by such a upcoming young woman sports person.

As we are still fighting hard against this global pandemic,  we shall surely come accross more contributions from public figures which includes cricketers.
