Can Delhi Capitals team pick themselves up mentally after their shattering defeat to Punjab from a winning position ?
The answer to the above question will be available after their showdown at Kotla vs Sunrisers Hyderabad ,who appear to be in red hot form.
With the return of a hungry David Warner and addition of a belligerent Johny Bairstow, the SRH seems to poccess the most deadly batting opening combination in this IPL. Against RCB, the Warner- Bairstow combination simply annahilated the opposition bowling, hence the Delhi thinktank will have to strategise really well to limit their damage . Vijay Shankar is also another batter ,who seems to be in brilliant form and he is capable of hitting huge sixes with his long reach. While skipper Williamson will provide stability ,Yusuf Pathan and ,Manish Pandey are expected to finish the innings.
Traditionally the SRH poccess a good bowling attack led by Bhubaneswar with an all Indian fast bowing group and spinners Rashid Khan,Md Nabi and Shakib .This attack is capable of adapting to any surface and is the best attack amongst all teams this IPL. However the current form of Bhuvaneswar is a worry as he has been leaking runs in slog overs , an area where Delhi can capitalise.
The home team in this match, is having a patchy tournament so far. With a fine array of aggressive Indian batsmen like Shaw, Pant ,Iyer,Dhawan ,they are capable of destroying any attack. However both Dhawan and skipper Iyer need to improve their strike rate. The bowling ,which is also their strong area, needs to perform better as a whole. Sandip Lamicchane has looked their most consistent bowler .
The pitch at Kotla appears to be a slowish one and not easy for fluent strokeplay. However the evening dew may prompt the team winning the toss to bat 2nd. With Sunrisers known to defend scores well, and Delhi making heavy weather of chases in couple of games, it will be advisable for Delhi to bat first and put runs in the board on winning the toss.
On current firm ,the SRH looks out and out favourites to win this match.
Delhi Capitals : Shaw, Dhawan, Iyer, Pant, Ingram, Vihari, Morris, Mishra,Rabada, Lamichhane, Ishant.
Sunrisers : Warner, Bairstow, Williamson, Shankar,M.Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Bhuvaneswar, Rashid, Sandeep Sharma, Sid Kaul, Khaleel.
If Williamson is unfit, Nabi can take his spot and Deepak Hooda can play for Khaleel.
This is an important game for Delhi to win and stay in top half of points table.
