England was well on course of a successful run chase to go 2-1 up in the series in the 3rd T20I at Nelson. Dawid Malan (55 off 34 balls) and James Vince (49 off 39) were at their sparkling best as the tourists set about strongly in their run chase vs New Zealand. Promising Tom Banton on (18 off 10) and skipper Eoin Morgan (18 off 13) looked threatening too but Morgan’s dismissal in the 15th over at 139/2 led to a sensational England collapse as 5 wickets fell within next 10 runs in the face of some superb tight bowling by Lockie Fergusion (2/25) and Tickner (2/25) . Later Tom Curran ‘s efforts (14 no off 10) was not enough for any strong resurgence and England went on to lose by 14 runs.
Earlier Colin D Grandhomme powered the Blackcaps with an imperious 55 off just 35 balls with 3 towering sixes as Guptill (33 off 17) has showed some encouraging signs of returning to form . Taylor (27) ,Neesham (20) and Santner (15 off 9) played swift cameos to take the home side to an imposing 180/7 in 20 overs with the Curran brothers impressing with the ball for England. Grandhomme for his impact innings was the man of the match as New Zealand take 2-1 lead in a gripping T20I series with 2 to play.
