” Everyday is important for my career” : Rishabh Pant

Intends to contribute with matchwinning knocks

As MS Dhoni is on a 2 month exile due to his military duties , the situation has nicely opened up for young and talented Rushabh Pant to consolidate his spot in all the 3 formats. While he is already the number one keeper batsman in tests, he has taken up presently the same role in other formats and now needs to consolidate. However spells of inconsistency ,in his batting ,specially throwing away decent starts have not gone too well with many experts. Here one needs to add that the style of cricket that Pant plays is a high risk one and so fans need to take some of his failures into their stride,as the days when his methods succeed, he more often than not puts India in match winning situations like he did in the final T20 game with a fine 65 no to close out the match.– this way he is a bit like Sehwag, who could get those brilliant match defining  knocks but can frustrate his fans with his way of cheap dismissals at certain times due to his high risk game and thereby needs the fans to exercise some degree of patience to wait for the better days. However ,having said that, maybe a lot more situational awareness is required from Pant.

In a media interaction yesterday Pant was quizzed on his own recent performance and he stated that he is trying to improve his consistency as he has thrown away starts and learning from them but at the same time he wants to play positive cricket and win matches for India. On another query he categorically stated that its not just the next 6 months but his everyday life and career which is important for him to consolidate on his game . He indicated that the pitches in West Indies were slower than normal but he is learning to adapt and to give himself more time in middle.
Pant also clarified that there is no experimentation in the middle order and team management is ensuring support to all players by giving adequate chances to all and the team is looking to win the odi series.
