The young batting sensation of India, who grabbed the attention of BCCI post his leading skills which led India to claim its 4th Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup, nearly a year ago found himself to miss the recent Test series against Australia. Prithvi Shaw suffered from an ankle injury during fielding against Cricket Australia XI which paved the way for Mayank Agarwal in his absence. Making his presence felt in the domestic cricket as the reflection of batting maestro, Sachin Tendulkar where the 18 year old batsmen became the second youngest Indian and seventh youngest player ever to score a hundred. Registering a century on debut in Ranji and Duleep tournaments, Prithvi Shaw celebrated his arrival at the biggest stage sharing the similar records with one of the greatest batsmen & highest run scorer of all time in international cricket.
After being declared fit by his coaches, the youngster was being included in the Mumbai squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20. Led by former Indian pacer, Ajit Agarkar, 15 member squad was announced on the Mumbai Cricket Association website. The domestic T20 tournament is scheduled to be played in Indore from February 21 -28, 2019. Shaw will represent Mumbai which gets underway in a week’s time when they will face Sikkim in their first encounter. Ahead of the competition, the teenage batting marvel has been training hard in the nets of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Following the close observation from the medical team in the academy, focus was to prepare the youngster to play competitive cricket.
Regaining confidence from the domestic T20 tournament, India’s U-19 World Cup winning captain will be aiming for a major comeback on international grounds with competitive matches of IPL 2019 scheduled before the ICC Cricket World Cup.
