Sharmin Akter Supta, Sultana Khatun guided their side to easy win

On the fourteenth day of Dhaka Women’s Premier Division Cricket League, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity registered convincing wins over Abahani Limited and Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity respectively.

Here is the fourteenth-day round-up:

Match 1: Abahani Limited vs Mohammedan Sporting Club

Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd won the toss and elected to bat first. Though Jinnat Asiya Aurthy fell for 16, another opener Sharmin Akter Supta scored 100 off 130. Along with them, Sharmin Akter scored 39 while Salma Khatun smashed a half-century (52 off 51) and put up a huge total of 245 on board after 50 overs.

Chasing the total, Abahani Ltd openers Montaha Khatun Monty and Sharmin Sultana added 54 runs for the first wicket. Sultana scored 64 before dismissing. Middle order batters tried their best to contribute. Babita Meena scored 31 off 37 and Sripali Shiromala smashed a 24-ball 27. But their efforts were not enough to take the team to the finish line and eventually bowled out for 206. Sharmin Akter Supta was awarded the ‘Player of the match’ for her century.

Match 2: Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity vs Keraniganj Cricket Academy

Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity won the toss and elected to field first. Opener Eka Mallick scored 36 off 107. Economical bowling from the bowlers which restricted them within a below-par of 120 on board. Laboni Akter bagged 3 wickets while Mumtahena Hasnat and Tanjila Akter Mou took 2 for Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity.

While chasing the small total, the opener of Khelaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity, Sanjida Islam fell for a duck. However, another opener Rubaiya Hayat Jilik scored 49 off 72 and Sultana Khatun scored an unbeaten half-century and handed over a comfortable win to her team with 25.5 overs to spare. Sultana Khatun awarded the ‘Player of the match’ for her half-century.
