As expected ,Australia had another stroll in the park to thrash Srilanka again and take the T20I series 3-0. Batting first at MCG, the future of Srilanka batting, the two Fernandos and Kushal Mendis failed to replicate their subcontinental success in Australia and got themselves out after getting decent starts. Again only Kusal Parera showed his ability and the resilience to play another sparkling knock of 57 off 45 balls while some meaty blows towards the end took Srilanka to 143/6 — their best batting effort in this series. Starc , Cummins and Kane Richardson bowled with occasional venom to share 6 wickets equally.
In reply Finch and Warner proved once again that they are one of the best T20 international opening partnership going around. Both played sparkling strokes to entertain their fans and were also gifted lives by Srilankan fielders. Finch made 37 while Warner (57no off 50 balls) scored 218 runs for the series without been dismissed. Smith (13) had a brief stay while Ashton Turner (22no) hit some meaty blows at the end as the Aussies closed out the series in style.
Australia currently looks a formidable T20 outfit and will be further replenished once Maxwell decides to resume playing though it must be said that Sri Lanka failed to challenge them strongly in this series.
For the islanders, they need to make massive improvements in all areas to challenge the top teams on their terms away from home.
